Shock The Monkey
Some experiments done in the 1960s showed that 65% of people could indeed "shock" a person, when instructed to do so by the people running the experiment. 32% of subjects were willing to administer up to 400 volts against a person who yelled and screamed as the voltage was increased in steady increments.

Putting this in perspective... today's security guards are sometimes armed with 500,000 volt tasers. Though it is doubtful the recipients of a taser blast get the chance to yell or scream, once they are "dazed and incapacitated", as written in the taser advertisements.

that is soo cool i want to be part of this experiment lets see if monkeys can shock people

Honestly, Shock the Monkey was more about jealousy than Milgram's experiments. I was really trying to take his idea with my on in another song we did for so titled 'We Do What We're Told'. Shock the Monkey was only connected to Milgram through the title referance.
And also, on my newest album I am doing another song to try to forward some of Milgram's experiments. The song will most likely be titled Egg Pain, but we are throwing back and forth between names.

Watch the video clip for the song before you say its about jealousy.

Thats right peter, i know more about your song then you do! But anyway seriously, if its about jealousy whats with the videoclip with the monkeys in the cages, and comparing monkeys to humans.

if you ever do read this btw peter (Which i doubt) could you email the response to jeromerr@hotmail.com .
Im quite interested because i can see why people think its about Milgram through the lyrics. I dont know how you can expect people to link the metaphors to jealousy.
Know you wont, but awaiting a reply
