ATTN: Adam Mansbach
My name is Eric Nord and I have just written a critique of some things you wrote for SFGate.com. I wrote a lot of nasty, inconsiderate things... and for that I apologize. In spite of my tirades, I want you to know that I harbor no ill will towards you.
I guess I overreacted. I take back everything I said... er, well... i will take back everything i said if you agree to sit down with me for a "virtual" conversation. I want to see if we can come to a consensus on hip hop's intellectual situation. In other words, what is the current state of hip hop's self-understanding? What are the limits of our understanding of hip hop? What are the most important issues faced by those who write about hip hop? Can hip hop be used as an effective platform for activism and social change? Or have we overblown the significance of hip hop?
You get the picture: I just want to see if we can have a little public discussion, instead of just me being an asshole and bashing your thoughtful and provocative article.
Thanks for your time...
Eric Nord
