Wake Up Christian Rappers!

Well, since I laid off the twelve hour typing sessions last week, my finger has seized up with the sort of stiffness normally associated with breaks, dislocations, and serious sprains. I'm still on vacation here, but I had to drop some thoughts after listening to the Wake Up Show.

Tonight was the third straight Wake Up Show I've heard since I discovered they were back on the air. And I've noticed a few changes. Rev plays a lot more major label gold-and-platinum singles than before the show got axed. Tonight it was Jay-Z, DMX, Snoop, and even 50-Cent's "P.I.M.P." Now, I'm the first person to show love for artists, regardless of their label status. But clearly Rev, Sway, Tech, and Carm have learned their lesson... do what it takes to prevent getting canned by antsy Program Directors. It's basically insurance. Though I gotta mention, tonight I caught two references to fecal matter that must have slipped by the time delay (I'm assuming they use one... at the very least for the L.A. broadcast, as I know there is a lag between KMEL and KPWR of about an hour or so).

One thing that hasn't changed... the Wake Up Show still features some classic freestyle sessions. And tonight was no exception. There were eight emcees (from L.A., Oakland, and Colorado). In a change of tactics, Sway instigated battles between these, almost totally unknown, emcees. Everybody kicked some nice flows except two guys. Sway got on their case and told them to pick it up in the next round. The last battle came down to Infamous MC from Oakland (who has worked with Kali Wild and Kankick) against this Christian rapper, Vice Versa, from the Procussions. The Procussions recently moved from Colorado Springs, CO to Los Angeles. Apparently, the move paid off!

Anyway, Vice Versa battled his way into the last round, while Infamous was deemed the defending champion because he had been on the show before. It was a clean battle. Both rappers kicked it straight off the top and responded very directly to each other's attacks. Maybe a third of the turns included direct responses. There were lots of segue rhymes, and a notable absence of dick, sex, sperm, and homo references, which gave the emcees space to breathe and keep it fresh. There were a few strong racial remarks, including light vs. dark skin, as well as black vs. white, and even a case of mistaken white identity (the rapper responded that he was latino... ouch!).

In general, everyone seemed good spirited and supportive. Sway kept referring to the emcees who had fucked up as "soldiers" for their valiant about-faces. As far as disses go... they were all in good taste. Only Infamous seemed to get a little desperate with his tactics. I would have voted for Vice Versa, in spite of a slip-up at the height of the battle (and a rather underwhelming voice). But giving the battle to Infamous was probably the right thing to do... gotta keep everyone happy. And you know a true Christian rapper ain't gonna hold a grudge for getting second.

It was refreshing and interesting to hear a talented Christian emcee kick it straight off the top in a battle. In spite of the fact that so many rappers give thanks to god... dope Christian emcees are definitely a rarity (how many dope Christian rappers can you name?!). In a predominantly Christian country, rapping about God is somehow an act of rebellion. Maybe we can further discuss this at another time. For now, check out the following page of links to various Christian hip hop artists around the country.

What’s up with the lie spoken here MR. I'm a Christian. Now to get the story right, the Infamous MC didn't even win the battle or go to the final round. Let stop trying to use the little fame he dose have to make you a name. I know you would love to tell the story (to all your friends...... and fam..... and any lost person that believes in you) that "I beat him before, as you sit and watch him increase his sales, while you give yo flop CD's away". Lets face it dog you're wak! and you'll always be wak. If you would like to sample some real hits, hit me up a pattyjr@yahoo.com. I'll slap you with some hits from the up comming album. Yes, I'm taken it personal. It's very plan to see what was going on here. Remember when the battle went from crowd participation to a panel the chose you. Lets not stray away from the truth my man. But to lie on the web about how it really went down, MR. I'm a Christian is crazy. Man please. Watch your back on the mic you just might get eat. OOOOO and don't think we didn't get invited by sway to the battle for $$$$ this weekend 8-30-03/8-31-03 at the wake up show. I'll halla at yall if yall gone be there. If you don't remember who I am I'm the person the yo boy girl keep her eyes on. I'll leave you with this here. It's clear that this is about gaining status by slamming the Infamous MC, due to the fact that ever rapper that flowed got taken for a loop when FAB won the battle. And when he was taken out of the battle half way through and said it was because he had history with the wake up show. Also FAB through out some race remarks but nothing was written about fab I see. But fab name isn't as big as the Infamous MC. You're a lame and you need to STOP cock riding. You know you should really go somewhere a repent, you've committed a sin my child.

God Bless You.

All you gotta do is set the record straight. if there is something specific i wrote that is wrong... tell me and i'll correct it. but i don't see any suggestion of what specifically is innacurate. I just wrote it down as best i could remember.

Seriously, set the record straight if you like. That's why I put this comment form on here.

50 Cet, P. Diddy, Nas, Eminem, and there are a whole lot more that believein God but are trapped by the devil who are using the worlds pleasure to have them rap about the world and not about things that really matter except on a few songs on a few albums. We gotta pray for them that GOd will show them the light and they can make the transition from secular rap to the best rap of all. Christain rap until then we need to keep them in our prays for if we do then we know that their souls will be in God's hands.

Yo this SINCERE ISRAEL from Da BRICKS of NU Jerusalem(NJ). First things first, HIP HOP is HIP HOP. There aint no Muslim, Satanic, white, or buddhist Hip Hop Section at Tower Records, so why does everybody get scared when Jesus is mentioned?
Because Jesus shines the spotlight on the world and lets them see their true selves. WICKED!! All have sinned & come short of the Glory of God even you Pharisees!! Music is music, your belief is your belief and everybody is accountable for their words. True ministers preach the word of God through music, period. Hip Hop, R&B, Country, Jazz are all expressions of one complete God. If your music does not minister to anyone about God and only talks about your self, then you are not a minister or a Christian Rapper... you're just a PERFORMER. Its cool that we've got a lot of different christian rappers keepin it real. I've heard that the christian hip-hop industry is more shady than the secular hip-hop indystry. Thats why all christians should just keep it real and be true examples of Christ. For me, I think Sevin is the tightest rapper out there let alone christian rapper. He keeps it real and I can relate to him. I believe he's going to do something big in this christian rap scene. He already made a deal with Dr. Dre to produce his music so thats cool.

Posted by: Richard Ojeda on January 20, 2004 08:46 AM

okay as silly as i think this is ,i do respect praising god through a rap point of view however freestyling or not dont be spoutin judgement on others like "cockriding".right there you have just judged someone instead of helping, praying, hope, ect. "those that walk in darkness are poor in spirit,we christians must be there light." ~jesus christ~

Posted by: da warner on January 25, 2004 07:51 PM

Christian rap is wack. I listened to some. It's all dogmatic. No proof. All you people who call yourselves followers of the annointed one are deluded.

What you have today is actually just Paul's version of events. How many of you listeners or performers of Christian rap actually did your research to see if what you believe is valid.

If you just say "I believe it because" then you've given every other religion the same recourse--"I'm__because". It's dumb. The reality is that none of you have read more than the canonical Bible.

Less than 18% of the 4 Canonical books are even direct quotes from Christ. We all know that the Bible of today is revised over and over again. It's sad that people call it the word of God. I hope you repent from your lies. God doesn't give anyone the authority to spread his religion to the world, only to whom he directly mandates as his messenger.

In fact, Christ was sent ONLY to the Jews and you all know it it's in the Bible many times. Lastly all of the Bible can't be the word of god because there is so much disgusting stuff in it. Like porno sounding stuff. Like people sleeping with their dad's and stuff. Which is clearly rubbish.

Ya'll gotta stop lying to yourselves. Just because you have to believe in God, doesn't give you the right to foist meanings and authorship into the Bible. Peace.

Posted by: nobu ('Yo Daddy!') on January 27, 2004 08:01 PM

Nah nobu you're wacked christian artist give us a better chance at bring others to Christ. It's an alternative to all of that violence that is in rap music today. As a matter of fact Christian rap is the reason I accepted Christ. Just checkout KJ52.

Posted by: patrick on January 28, 2004 03:52 PM

Look Patrick,

What does Christianity (whatever u think IT is) have to do with an alternative to violence?

As far as I know Christianity has been the cause of the bloodiest religous campaigns in human history (Protestant vs. Catholics; Slavery; Crusades). Only ideology based conflicts have been worse (WWI, WWII).

Have you read the Bible? It is very violent. I think if you are small minded whether Christian or otherwise you'll be duped into being a midless violent person.

I'm not Christian and I'm not violent.

What do u mean 'bring people to Christ'? Christ isn't your's to disseminate. Where did he give you authority? You are spreading Pauline Christianity. Paul was the liar who spread these rumours about Christ. Paul is who you are following, not Christ.

I never read ONE VERSE where Jesus says he is God.

What you have today is an Aramaic/Hebrew oral tradition translated into Greek text by Pagan Greeks who then translated it into other western languages.

You don't even know what Christ said out of his mouth. So how can it be the word of God? God needs translators? If you even read the Greek bible then you'd be closer to the verbatim, and still you don't even have that.

Ever heard of something called an idiom or a figure of speech? If Jews were quoted as saying, 'the son of God' is probably just a figure of speech. Because it's ludicrous. How many times have you seen something amazing and then said to your friend "Oh my God!"? It doesn't mean that you are calling your friend God. But if some dumb FOB' came and recorded what you said and then translated it into his foriegn language, then his people would think you are calling your friend God, especially if those people were previously polytheists anyway. See what I'm sayin', sorry for the breadth.

Peace.

Posted by: nobu (Yo Daddy!) on January 30, 2004 08:17 PM

Nobu...

Could you give us some examples of what you are talking about? It's not clear if you are dissing Christianity, or just some of its follower and practitioners.

And if Christianity is no good... what do you suggest to replace it? If people need to believe in something... why not Christianity? Are you saying we shouldn't read the Bible? Are you merely suggesting we read a different version? Or is there something lacking in our interpretations of standard-issue bibles?

You gotta be specific.

Posted by: eric on January 30, 2004 08:50 PM

I'm not disrespecting Christianity, I'm rebuking some of it's supposed propagators. Besides Christians don't all share the same foundations. The issue I take with most Christian versions is that they either started or behave due to innovations they make themselves not strictly on the words, traditions, and intentions of Jesus. If they actually tried hard to stay within the instruction of Jesus and didn't infer gross inormities from the Bible and foist gross inormities into the Bible and tradition.

If you pay attention to what Moses instructs and later Jesus also instructs it is obvious what to believe and what to follow--if you read the Greek.

You need to follow the Spirit of Truth as Jesus said.

What is the Spirit of Truth, he who will come and speak only as God Almighty instructs him to say. And that means that a further revelation after the Gospel was sure to come with a Prophet/leader who will speak as God instructed same as Moses. Moses said that the Spirit would be like him, or similar in composition and have a similar experience with his people.

Posted by: nobu (yo daddy!) on February 2, 2004 04:48 PM

I'll add more in a few...I know I didn't respond to all of your questions.

Posted by: nobu (yo daddy!) on February 2, 2004 05:55 PM

The Bible is a big book that covers a lot of time and territory. I think insisting on literal traditional interpretations is just a fraught with peril as trying to adapt the American Constitution to contemporary situations.

For me, the notion that only a few people -- thousands of years ago -- had a monopoly on religious truth is hard to accept. What has changed? Are people less worthy?

The questions pile up so fast and relying upon something written in antiquity seems misguided.

How does the authorship of the Bible somehow trump interpretation? Inevitably, people must decide if scriptures are legit or not. There is no factory certification.

Why are the words of Moses and Jesus any more relevant than those of Martin Luther, Joseph Smith, or Minister Farrakhan?

How does one certify authenticity?

Unlike Islam and Judaism, Christianity has given its followers a lot of room to breathe. The bible has many authors and covers a wide array of topics.

Are you suggesting that only literal interpretation is OK? What about intermediaries? What about church/temple officers? What about clerics? What about the pope?

Can we only trust the scriptures and holy books? Isn't there a possibility these were edited, tampered, censored, etc??

Thanks again...

Posted by: eric on February 2, 2004 05:56 PM

Man, that's alot of questions but I'll try to cover what I originally intended. 'Christianity' as you say gave people 'room to breath' or really room to misguide themselves, yes. Because it wasn't guaranteed from God to be free from defect. Judaism is strict because the Rabbis wanted to control the population, and for awhile only the Rabbis could own or read the Torah. That may not have always been true. Now My original response is as follows...

As you stated it is natural for people to long for understanding and belief in their relationship with the Creator. But one shouldn't randomly or recklessly just pick what everyone else subscribes to.

God gave you an intellect and a heart for a reason. Your intellect is used for understanding cold hard facts, as well as abstract relationships and possibilities. Your heart, when not corrupted will admit humility before your Creator when his signs/proofs have become manifest in your mind.

To the contrary I believe you SHOULD read the Bible but you should also read it with a fully aware/informed mind. Don't let it preach to you. You have to filter prior inculcated dogma as well as enormous lies that have been interwoven with the truth in it.

I believe some of the Bible has divine origin. But some of it is clearly false additions, and notes mixed in. If you believe the Bible is the word of God then you must obey its commands--all of them.

Another issue I have with my Christian brothers is that they don't give God's commandments (not just the Ten Commandments) enough weight, and they don't follow them literally.

When God tells us something in a Divine book, he tells a story to illustrate a lesson and give guidance and sometimes an order, not merely to make pointless comments. Here is what I mean...

A lesson from God…

EXODUS 40 V:31/32
And Moses and Aaron and his sons washed their hands and their feet thereat. When they went into the tent of the congregation, and when they came near unto the altar they washed AS THEIR LORD COMMANDED.
(I used caps for emphasis)

This is something that I do and the Muslim community does, and you could say that we are more Jewish than the Jew and more Christian than the Christian.

IMPORTANT STUFF:

One has to know who is speaking when you read the Bible. There are 3 types of evidence in the Bible: God speaking; a Prophet speaking; and a witness speaking. Then there is another type I’ll mention later.

The first type of evidence is the word FROM God.

God says in Deuteronomy Ch.18 V 18: I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee (Moses), and will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak unto thee all that I shall command him.

Who is this ‘I’? It is God, clearly, not Moses. No disputes on this.

In the book of Isaiah, God says, “I am God and there is none like me”. So who is talking? Again, God is speaking. Even though we don’t hear God, and the words are uttered by Isaiah, we know that Isaiah is acting as a mouthpiece for God and telling us what God is saying to us. Isaiah isn’t saying HE is God. Another example of God speaking.

The second type of evidence is from a Prophet of God. Jesus says, “Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: but I say unto you whosoever looks upon a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.” “It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement: But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.” “Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.” “But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne:” Who is THIS ‘I’ speaking? Clearly this is the Prophet Jesus speaking from himself and about what people should do in ADDITION to God’s injunctions. This is what it sounds like when the mouthpiece/Prophet of God is speaking of himself not God.

The third type of evidence is where we read: Jesus looked around, and said to his disciples, "How difficult it is for those who have riches to enter into the kingdom of God!" “When he heard that it was Jesus, the Nazarene, he began to cry out, and say, "Jesus, you son of David, have mercy on me!" This type of evidence is clearly from a third party, sometimes it appears that a disciple is narrating, and other times we know that it is obviously the words of an eye-witness, or a near-witness, or a person writing from hearsay.

Then there is ANOTHER type of evidence which we can’t attribute to God, or any Prophet or even a sane person. And there are other types which are profane, x-rated, smutty, and unworthy of mention to children, or anyone we love or respect. You can’t read it to your mother, your daughter, or even to your wife/fiance if she is a good lady. Some examples are as follows…

For example in the book of Genesis Ch. 19 V. 30-36:

And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters. And the firstborn said unto the younger, Our father [is] old, and [there is] not a man in the earth to come in unto us after the manner of all the earth: Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father. And they made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose. And it came to pass on the morrow, that the firstborn said unto the younger, Behold, I lay yesternight with my father: let us make him drink wine this night also; and go thou in, [and] lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father. And they made their father drink wine that night also: and the younger arose, and lay with him; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose. Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father.

Night after night these daughters seduced their father. Now I’m asking, how do you explain this ‘word of God’ to your daughter when she asks “what is this seed, daddy?” And more importantly what is the moral behind the story? What lesson will your sister learn from that?

This is clearly a false addition; this is obviously not Divine authorship. Why would God tell a story like that? What was the outcome of such evil? Nothing further will elucidate the matter. The results are a bastard lineage. Yet these bastard children are ‘blessed’ in this book.--The Ammonites and the Moabites. When the Jews came out of Egypt they were told to kill the Palestinians—men women and children, not even animals must live nothing that breathes must live they were told—but the Ammonites and the Moabites must not be touched because they are the children of Lot, having impregnated his daughters. What is the moral? What will you learn to your benefit? This, if construed as from God, will cause all sorts of permanent damage to your character, especially a young mind, or any pure mind. What will happen when a man does that in our time with his daughters? What will you tell him? He might say, “Its in the Bible, there’s nothing wrong with it, because Lot did it and God didn’t reprimand Lot, he didn’t give him an STD, nothing happened, he didn’t punish his daughters, so it means it is accepted!”

Again in Genesis 35:22

And it came to pass, when Israel dwelt in that land, that Reuben went and lay with Bilhah his father's concubine: and Israel heard [it]. Now the sons of Jacob were twelve.

Now Reuben could’ve slept with any other woman, but why his father’s wife? Why his own mother? This is sick. What is the moral? There is none. Did Reuben’s father raise a fuss? No. Was he brought to justice? No. So this is yet another example of filth that never belonged in the Bible and clearly isn’t the word of God. This is pornographic material, plain and simple.

And why is it that the devil ‘tempted’ Jesus? If people are to believe that Jesus was God, then why did the devil say to Jesus “if you worship me I will give you all this”, i.e. the world. But God is the owner of everything, every temple and land. It’s nonsensical. That’s like me saying to you, “if you agree with me Eric, that I will make you the stinkzone.com custodian and ‘Hip-Hop janitor’”. Essentially offering you what is already yours.

Now read in Mathew 7:22-23

Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? And in thy name have cast out devils? And in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I (Jesus) profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

What is Jesus saying? He is saying that all that did work in HIS name, meaning Jesus, shall be shunned by Jesus, because he NEVER WANTED ANYONE TO WORSHIP HIM. He will effectively say ‘I don’t know you, get away from me’. Will the Jews say “Lord lord Jesus”? Will the Muslims say “Lord lord Jesus”?—Definitely not. It will be Christians saying that. And he will say to THEM that God (Allah) is Lord, not me.

Now If God says he is ‘with’ you what does it mean? It means that God will make you victorious. Now we read Judges 1:19…

The LORD was with Judah, and he took possession of the hill country, but could not drive out the inhabitants of the plain, because they had chariots of iron.

Essentially this is saying that God failed Judah. It’s like saying America was with the Israel, and then Israel is defeated because of ‘iron chariot’s’ like tanks or something. It’s ridiculous to suggest that with the support of God that one would STILL be defeated. It makes God out to NOT be omnipotent. This is evidence of the Bible’s foisted inane qualities on God. And must not be the word of God.

And now see how the Bible shows God’s lack of compassion, justice and indulgence in carnage. Read 1 Samuel 6:19…

And he smote the men of Bethshemesh, because they had looked into the ark of the Lord, even he smote of the people fifty thousand and threescore and ten men: and the people lamented, because the Lord had smitten [many] of the people with a great slaughter.

Did you read that? He slaughtered 52,310 men, for looking in a box! What happened to all the aforementioned adulterers and incestors, why didn’t they receive such a punishment? Why didn’t he punish the first few to make an example of them? Why wait until over 52 thousand men (women and children) opened it and kill them all? All of these are examples of how the Bible makes uncharacteristic claims, as well as inventing a morally deprived God. And thus, these cannot be authentic or near-authentic, clear interpolations.

In western language they use an exclamation mark to emphasize something. In Arabic, and Hebrew, they use the word ‘Ya’ which means ‘Oh!’ for an exclamation. The word hallelujah explains my next point. In Hebrew and Arabic, you begin with the exclamation, like ‘ya akhi’ which means ‘oh my brother’, ‘oh my mother’ would be ‘ya ummi’ and Oh Allah would be ‘Ya Allah’ or ‘Ya Allahu’ ‘You are Allah (God)!’. Hallelujah is really Ya Allah hu. Thus the real name of God is Allah. Or as the Jews say Ellah, in their accent. So when you say hallelujah, your are invoking God’s true name, Allah! Whereas Jehova’s witnesses say God’s true name is Jehovah, even though Jesus said “Eli Eli Sabachtani”. Jesus never said “Aba Aba Sabachtani”. Ab(u)(a) is Father in Arabic and Hebrew. Some Christians say Jesus Cried to his Father, which is an obvious lie. He never said Aba, he said Elli, or Allah which are essentially the same word for God’s true name. So where did the Jehova’s witnesses get that name? And where did other Christians get the idea that Jesus cried to his Father? They are obvious interpolations, foisted into the Bible. And Christians have been duped because they don’t know the Hebrew, the Arabic, or the Greek.

The Actual Greek word used for Jesus in the oldest manuscripts is "pias" or "paida" which mean; "servant, child, son, manservant." Some translations of the Bible, such as the popular King James Version, have translated this word as "Son" when it is attributed to Jesus (pbuh) and "servant" for most everyone else, while more recent translations of the Bible such as the Revised Standard Version (RSV) now honestly translate it as "servant."

The RSV was compiled by thirty two Biblical scholars of the highest eminence, backed by fifty cooperating Christian denominations from the "most" ancient Biblical manuscripts available to them today. Chances are that no matter what your church or denomination you are able to name, that church took part in the correction of the King James Version of the Bible which resulted in the RSV.

And now let’s hear from what a Bible expert has to say.

Mrs. Ellen G. White (Seventh Day Adventist Church) says about the King James Version of the Bible…

"THE BIBLE WE READ TODAY IS THE WORK OF MANY COPYISTS WHO HAVE IN MOST INSTANCES DONE THEIR WORK WITH MARVELLOUS ACCURACY. BUT COPYISTS HAVE NOT BEEN INFALLIBLE, AND GOD MOST EVIDENTLY HAS NOT SEEN FIT TO PRESERVE THEM ALTOGETHER FROM ERROR IN TRANSCRIBING."

The weakness of the Bible is that it takes two excellent sources and includes what other people have to say ‘in the word of God’. It also includes many indecent stories which teach no lesson, as well as cause consternation over God’s methods of justice.

The Qur’an in contrast only includes the word from God, and what he revealed from himself about the Prophets lives. What Muhammad said about the word of God is kept separate from the Qur’an, and the reflections and experiences of his disciples are kept further from the two aformentioned (Holy) sources in other collections. If Muslims had a book which had the word of God, the Prophets, and what every Tom, Dick, and Harry had to say about the God and his Prophet, Muslims too would be confused and inconsistent.

Lastly I have a few questions, If people are to believe the Bible is the word of God, then why do they stand by and watch the Bible be ‘revised’, manipulated and interpolated even as we speak? The issue of the Ascension of Christ has been taken out of the Bible and later added back due to protest. What is this? The Bible is so susceptible to the fashion and the whims of the established powers. People must then read it with their guards up.

Well since "Nobu speaks the truth" allow me another axiom for you to imbibe--God is not Gay, and whoever says such a thing without really thinking of how egregious it is to say, must repent almost superfluously for fear of God's retribution in this life or in the next.

Nowhere did I make any license for disrespecting God at all. I simply explained how poor of an accurate source of guidance is the so-called Bible.

Posted by: nobu (yo daddy!) on February 9, 2004 11:50 PM

Let's just say I call God gay. GOD IS GAY. GOD IS GAY. GOD IS GAY. So what? Why is that wrong, and what will God do to me if I keep calling him gay?

Is God also against humor in general?

Why don't you call your father gay, and your boss gay?

Why don't people call people they respect as gay?

You wouldn't even consider saying that to such people, because you either respect them or fear the consequences.

These are the two factors that govern how we treat people (or in this case our Lord, God, The Sublime), either we respect them (love, admire, etc.) or we fear them (or society or other systems). Even if you are only joking its VERY disrespectful.

You can't hurt God, but he can lower your station in this life and the next, and you only make yourself more of an obvious enemy of God, his Angels, his Prophets, and his servants, human and otherwise to rally against such evil.

God is NOT a human, and thus we must relate to him on HIS terms, not our own. We only refer to him by his beautiful names. And we definitely don't refer to him with mocking or evil and untrue qualities such as the aforementioned insult of 'gay'.

We refer to him as 'The Wise', 'The Loving', 'The Forgiver', 'The Giver of Life', 'The Abaser', 'The King' 'The Creator', 'The Generous', 'The Holy', etc.

Please learn to respect your Lord, whatever you call him, make sure it is a word of reverence, not of likening him to humans, or nasty behavior.

Posted by: nobu (yo daddy!) on February 14, 2004 12:17 AM

If God is not a person, then I think all human-based adjectives will fall short in describing It.

In a sense, I guess I think of God as something of a mirror. When I call god "gay", I guess I'm calling myself gay. Which I am cool with.

I think there is also a double meaning to "gay", right? Gay means happy too, right?

Also, I got nothing against gay people, so even the other meaning of gay doesn't bother me. Maybe it would be better if God were gay. Then we might not have such a big population problem.

Posted by: eric on February 14, 2004 10:10 PM

I guess now Eric would be the first time I'd have to call you a jackass, your just being stubborn and immature now.

Now I see you as just a person who has fun using polemics to have fun, and making fun of people's honest attempt at a serious discussion on theism.

I didn't say God isn't a 'person', I used the word human, because if God was a human, he'd have no right claiming to be High, and greater than the rest of us. Does one atom molecule have any greater gravity than another, does one dog have any fewer fleas? God is higher than us, he doesn't have needs like eating food, defacating, having sex, and the like. Such thoughts are repulsive to him and to his servants. We can't say he is a man or a woman, as he never described himself as such. We only know of him from what he revealed. For instance, we know he has a hand, but what that hand looks like we don't know, and what composition, posture, color, form, we don't know. We just try to establish that it does exist, and that is enough for God's faithful servants. There are other examples by which he explained what he looks like. Actually we say 'he' because He uses the word 'He' and 'We' when describing Himself. But this is a linguistic thing. Since human language usually has a masculine, feminine, an inanimate or animal, etc. way to describe a figure, the options by which to capture God in a respectful way are only either He, She, or it. God chose to use He, though he never gives himself a gender.

Gay, even when meaning happy has never been a name of God. He never approved of the moniker/nicname/title.

In Islam, (which is the religion from God to our father and the first Prophet Adam through his children and the subsequent Prophets including Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and ending with Muhammad peace be upon them all) We only append names and descriptions of God as he gives us permission.

You last statement was really off the point, and very dumb by itself. It's like you assume that God procreated the population of the Earth.

Whether or not you have anything against Gay people has nothing to do with the fact that homosexual sex is wrong, and a major crime as God informed us. I have nothing against polititians, but that doesn't meant that I'm okay with when they lie and operate selfishly, and become demagogues and hypocrites.

Whether or not a person can have a homosexual potential doesn't mean they must act on it. Just like a straight person who has natural and good inclinations to satisfy his god-given needs shouldn't just have casual sex with women out of wedlock either. Or a kleptomaniac shouldn't act on his desire and start stealing stuff.

Homosexuality was an invented sin. When Abraham was visited by angels, they informed him that his cousin Lot was commissioned by God to go to a town which had invented a sin (homosexuality) and to warn them of God's imminent punishment.

Lot offered his daughters (for marriage) to them, but they showed their evil desire instead for Lot's pure visitors (the angels disguised as young men). Lot tried to use his eloquence to dissuade them, but they only said "Expel Lut and his family from your city. Indeed they are very pure people". After that Lot and his people left the town except his wife and the angels destroyed the people utterly. I think they flipped the town upside down and then their was a rain of pebbles.

OK... you are a Muslim and you don't like gays.

Anything else?

Posted by: eric on February 15, 2004 02:14 PM

Look bruh,

It's wrong--that's the message.

I had a friend in highschool who turned out to be gay. Liking a person has nothing to do with accepting their immoral choices. I'm sure R. Kelly was really nice to those girls. But being Mr. congeniality doesn't mean that we shouldn't censure and vilipend vile behavior.

In Pesci speak "wha's one ding got to do wid anudda?"

Posted by: nobu (yo daddy!) on February 16, 2004 08:18 AM

I agree that a 34 year old guy having sex with and peeing on a 14 year old guy is maybe not the best idea.

But why shouldn't two thirtysomethings of the same sex be able to get down like thirtysomethings of the opposite sex?

I think it is just cultural. The people you respect don't approve of gay sex. But if you asked them for their reasons, they would probably be the exact same as your own: it's how they were raised.

I'm not saying gay sex is "normal". It is most definitely not. But independent thinking is also not normal these days.

Posted by: eric on February 16, 2004 02:08 PM

It boils down to whether or not you believe in God's authority over the affairs of men.

I believe as such, along with about a billion other Muslims, perhaps less than half that number of god-fearing, non-secular Christians, and a nominal number of Jewish people that God's will (in man's affairs) is as dire to mankinds existence, and progress as air and water, and therefore must be obeyed if we want our portion in the ultimate reality, which is life in the hereafter.

If you on the other hand have been presented with enough rational and textual proof that God Almighty indeed exists, has sent revelation, and expects that you conform your God-given free will, and still wish to do otherwise, then you will be recalcitrant no matter what and your heart will harden even more, and you have chosen to be either one who distorts and covers up the truth, rebellious, or one who abuses his power and influence to misguide others, all are doomed.

But if you haven't been given enough proof to come to the conclusion that God Almighty must be obeyed in human affairs, then that is where our conversation would naturally need to rendevous.

We are discussing the branches of belief on my side, and branches of social conduct/psychology on your side. They are the same, but you don't give credence to the wisdom and deserving obeissance of God the Unique.

I still stand on what I have understood from rational pondering, as well as incontrovertible proofs from the Holy Qur'an, which maintains all the truth in the previous books of the Zabur (Psalms from David), the Torah (from Moses) and the Injeel (Gospel from Jesus not according to so-and-so).

Posted by: nobu (yo daddy!) on February 17, 2004 12:43 PM

But what reasons has God presented?

What are God's arguments against homo sex?

If God gives me good reasons... I am happy to follow.

I wouldn't be surprised if part of God's plan is to test us by telling us not to do certain things, and then seeing which people step up and go against God. That is what Moses did. That is what Jesus did. That is what Mohammed did. Each of these men broke from established beliefs.

Posted by: eric on February 17, 2004 12:55 PM

Let me begin by focusing on what sex is, what is its purpose, and what are it's effects .

My def: Sex (the verb) is the act of communicating some kind of medium (sperm, spores, pollen, etc.) for propagtion from a male into a female where both fluids mingle and begin the process of reproduction.

Merriam-Webster def: the sum of the structural, functional, and behavioral characteristics of living things that are involved in reproduction by two interacting parents and that distinguish males and females.

The purpose of sex is to reproduce, or maintain and flourish as a species.

God gave us this instinct. And therefore it's benefits are from Him, and those benefits motivate us. The benefits I'm talking about are the effects, which are also part of the motivation--i.e. sexual pleasure.

For a while, humans only had sex when they were aroused by their female wives/female partners. Somewhere between Adam and Eve, and now, people started experimenting with sex beyond the intended purpose. Maybe because of social problems, marrying a wife became difficult, some invented custom, etc.) However it happened, it happend. And people realized that "all I have to do is stimulate this thing and bang, I feel good."

I don't want to lecture you, I'm just trying to give you my view as best I can.

Do you remember that scene in the matrix when the 'Merovingian' began babbling on causality? I like to cite that scene and other expressions of universal axioms in popular culture, because people remember them easier that way. Anyhow, that 'yada-yada' session basically summed up everything and every movie, which made it seem kind of annoying with all its panging rhetoric, at least for it's cinematic value.

Beyond the purpose of entertainment, The Merovingian was talking about cause and effect, or "the why". If we as humans claim to do things as much as possible because it means something to us, and because it is right, then we may be guided with the truth. Whereas if we only do things for the effect or the pleasure (as demonstrated quite explicitly by the woman who ate the cake) we will be lost and slaves to our senses.

Hence, sex must have purpose. If homosexuals do it (have homsexual sex)first and foremost because they believe that God intended that people have sex with their like, then they are only misguided. The reality is that they do it because it feels good (the same goes for hetero but at least the hetero is doing it right only with misguided or ill intentions, both have issues).

I will end with this-- (translation of the meanings of) the unchanged proof from God which was sent from God to to His Messenger Muhammad (PBUH) through the Honoured Chief of the Angels Jibreel (Gabriel).

[Yusuf Ali translation]

Verse 2:223

Your wives are as a tilth unto you; so approach your tilth when or how ye will; but do some good act for your souls beforehand; and fear God. And know that ye are to meet Him (in the Hereafter), and give (these) good tidings to those who believe.

-----------------

God is using the parable of a tilth (farm). This basically means that you have sex for the purpose of procreation, so like farming send your seeds (male sperm) into the vagina (tilth) so that the seeds will grow. What I'm getting at is that sex feels good, and that's established, God only expects we enjoy our God-given instincts in the manner which He invented it for. Since He could've made sex without pleasure. That would be as exciting as eating delicious food with no smell or taste receptors. What a mercy from God that He made sex, food, and sound pleasing to us. And some of us choose to enjoy these pleasures in the wrong way. God could've made us like robots just using senses to get a job done...Like He made the Angels without such desires/needs as food and sex.

Sorry for the breadth. Peace...

Under this logic of sexual "purpose", that means even men and women shouldn't engage in "too much" sex, right?

What about kinky sex between a man and a woman?

What about masturbation?

What about consensual adultery?

What about sperm donors and egg donors?

Posted by: eric on February 18, 2004 05:49 PM

A little Chinese uncle told me way back when I used to work in a Vietnamese restaurant I worked at back in highschool, "do one time a week, better for longevity". Basically this was his advice for not being overactive in my more virile and vigorous years. I think it makes sense. But to each his own (provided some restraint).

After one realizes that sex, along with other forms of affection is a gift from God because it is a way for the sexes to relieve one another from the stresses of life. It has many applications and techniques.

How much kinkiness the man and women choose to enjoy is something which would best be discussed between them and a sex therapist, honestly. Someone with knowledge of the limits to where we should let our imagination take us.

But I know that as long as it is the women making the man feel good and the man making the woman feel good, that it is allowed and indeed encouraged. But sex like food should be limited by ones own self.

We can become over-eaters, and I believe it must be possible that we can be over-sexed. Our society inundates us with sexual images and messages in music, and other social conduits. We have to try our best not to make sex only a physical thing, I think. Sex has a spiritual quality, but only if both parties still have their dignity intact. Remember, in all the bumpin and grindin', we must maintain our humanity, and we humans say "enough" when actually we could have had a bit more. Like we eat enough to not be hungry, and not more.

Becoming fully satiated can often lead to laziness, and lack of interest in the future. It is important to always be expecting more. I really think that shyness is essential to a healthy sexual relationship. Shyness makes people still feel that what they are engaging in is special and important, I guess. Anyway, I'm no expert on the particulars as is obvious, but one has to try and use his conscience.

Consensual adultury, or 'swinging' as euphemised by the perverted American culture these days is wrong. God made it wrong, not your husband or wife. The very notion places the decision with the couple, when the decision has been made by their lord, not them.

Sperm donors and other stuff is really something I'm not sure on. I personally think it's a waste of effort. There is enough opportunity for people to reproduce by what God has allowed us. If he doesn't allow us to reproduce, then we should be humble and move on. Making copies of ourselves is not the only point of reproduction. God's plan will still be manifest without your offspring. Abraham had Ishmael at the age of 90, he was very pious and God rewarded him. Then later Sarah got the news that she would be pregnant with Issac at an old age as well. Of course Abraham had a second wife, Hajar (Sarah's servant, whom she allowed to wed Abraham so that he could have a son, because it was believed before that she was barren or sterile) This shows that they were content with God's decision one way, and when the good news came, they were deserving and pleased. The bad news of no children can make people do some strange things. I've heard of couples having trouble gettoing pregnant trying new methods to conceive, and later end up with like quintuplets or more than they bargained for. I think we should re-evaluate our intentions, be patient and hope for the best. Also western medicine could learn some from alternative medicine (which was actually the major form before the onset of technological advancements).

About what ashkhan said,

From what I know, The following rapper(s) Are NOT Muslim:

ICE CUBE

From what I know, The following rapper(s) ARE Muslim:

Mos Def

All the other rappers, I don't know if they are or not. Tragedy Khadafi said some 5% stuff once, so I'm not sure if he's a real Muslim. And all the others I don't know, based on some of their behavior, they seem like Hindus. If they are Muslims, may Allah reform them, and if they aren't, may Allah guide them.

Posted by: nobu (yo daddy!) on March 9, 2004 12:50 AM

Jessie,

Before you say what Jesus was and was not, let's all assume one thing first, a Muslim IS NOT AND CAN NEVER CLAIM TO BE GOD. Okay?

Jesus OBEYED God, therefore, he stood in NEED of God. God is in need of no one and nothing, God is Perfect, Rich, and is not like his creation, i.e. humans.

Jesus (Peace Be Upon Him) WAS a Muslim. Do you want to know what a Muslim is before you say something contrary? A Muslim is any CREATION of God which acts according to the Will of his Creator. Therefore the Sun, is a Muslim, a tree is a Muslim, an atom is a muslim, a person's body is a Muslim (due to involuntary processes which obey God and not our will).

A human is different than other creation because God Almighty gave mankind free will to submit to his Will, or be one who covers up the truth, one who is rebellious. Jesus chose to obey his Lord, and was a Messenger, and was annointed by God. He was birthed by Mary. Mary (PBUH) was given the honour of bringing the Messiah into this world because she was a noble servant of God. She also has noble lineage to Zakariah (PBUH).

Logic doesn't support that God is like his creation. God created everything, including time itself. God existed when none existed, therefore, before God created, there was no Jesus, only God. God doesn't create another God, it's asenine. Secondly God is Pure and Holy, and in no need. How then could God be Jesus, when Jesus needed things? Jesus ate food, he desired women (otherwise he wouldn't be a man), he had to heed the call of nature, etc.

Whatever culture he was born into is incidental and has no bearing on the Message he brought. God sent over 100,000 prophets to mankind from Adam (PBUH) ending with Muhammad (PBUH). He sent Holy Books to David (PBUH), Moses (PBUH), Jesus (PBUH), and Muhammad (PBUH). All of them undoubtedly had different clothes, languages, currency etc. But the message of belief in the One and ONLY God WORTHY OF WORSHIP was the same. This is the message of the Messiah Jesus Son of Mary. He had no father, that was one of the miracles God vouchsafed with him. In fact Jesus will reject any who worshipped him on the Day of Judgement, as is even proven by the modern Bible (which has been altered alot, and which never was given authority in the written form from Jesus anyway, since the Children of Israel had an oral tradition).

Posted by: nobu (yo daddy!) on March 9, 2004 01:16 AM

Ali,

[First of all, Peace Be Upon All of the Prophets and their families whom I am about to mention below...]

Incidentally (it doesn't matter really that) Jesus was of the Bani Isra'il, or the Children of Israel. What he and they looked like is knowledge we don't have access to. As you know the Jewish peoples have a diverse diaspora nowadays, and back then is anyones guess. So an assumption about what he looked like would be out of ignorance, and is therefore nonsensical.

The Jews moved alot, sometimes in Canaan (Mesopotamia/Iraq), sometimes in Misr/Elephantine/Egypt, sometimes Palestine, sometimes Hijaz (Arabian Peninsula).

Muhammad (PBUH) was of the Quraysh tribe of Arabs who were of the Bani Hashim. It is well known that the Bani Hashim trace their roots to their famous Patriarch, namely Ishmael (Ismail). Even the tribe name and the Prophet (Ishmael) have commonality in the root of the word. Ismail (Ishmael) himself was not an Arab. His father Ibrahim (Abraham) was of another people altogether, his brother Ishaq, (Isaac) (Abraham was their shared father) would become the Patriarch of the Bani Isra'il (Jews). Ishmael's Mother was Hajar (Hagar) she was from Africa. Isaac's mother was Sarah, who was from the same people as Abraham. So you see, the Jews and the Arabs are cousins in faith and in blood kinship. What any of these personalities looked like is impossible to know, we can only conjecture, and guess. It isn't important. The message is what matters.

Peace.

Hey,

Does anyone know if the rapper 'Remedy' counts as 'Jewish Rap'. I'm pretty sure he's Jewish, not sure if he always raps about Jewish issues. I only heard like 2 songs of his. The only one I remember is a song called 'Never Again' which is about the Holocaust (I know what your thinking...'still talkin' bout the holocaust?') Well even though 'Schindler's List' type cinema, and endless books and plays have been circulating since well before my eldest bro was born, This song is STILL pretty dope, and I can definitely commiserate on a real level after hearing it. But still Zionism, the way its being manifested today at least is racist and basically the same as the Nazis (minus the gassing, furnacing, death camps, etc.). Oh well, Jews are cool, but Zionists are usually racist and have superiority complexes. Out.

JESUS is the WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE LIFE, and no man comes to the FATHER except they come through Him. John 14:6
If you are going to do Christian rap please remember that you should be seeking to uplift GOD and Jesus Christ.

If there are any Christian d.j.s or producers who are truly seeking to glorify GOD and not theirselves please contact me at my email address themonks02@yahoo.com I will pray for everyone that visits this site that GOD will reveal the truth unto them and that they will serve Him with a pure heart. He is so worthy of our praise. Remember we Christians are the light of the world and the salt of the earth. We have to be an example to the world of what GOD requires. Which is first to believe in His Son Jesus Christ and that we are saved because He died on the cross for our sins. When we give ourselves to Christ we are new creatures. The old man has passed away and we are new in Christ. To be a thug for Christ is very contradictory. Christ didn't call us to be thugs, He called us to be holy children of GOD. Separate from the world. Different from the world. I was a thug before I came to GOD but I have let go of my thugish ways because they don't bring glory to GOD. Unfortunately the truth won't be revealed to everyone. You have to search for truth as for hidden treasures. But if you dont do it with a humble, sincere heart GOD won't reveal it to you. Hallelujah!!! I love you all and pray GOD's mercy, grace, and truth be on you all.

Don't u mean 'Allah-lu-yah', or 'Ya-Allah-lu', or 'Ya Allah-hu'?

If u speack English or Spanish, u probably speak more Arabic than u know...

Hallelujah is actually a europeanized version of 'Ya Alla-hu', an Arabic word, which means Oh Allah! Because in the Semetic languages, as in Arabic, you place the exclamation mark in the begining of the sentence. The 'ya' is the exclamation; it literally means 'Oh!'.

Can Christians in the West sync up with Eastern or Arab Christians and fully acknowledge that the Lord of the us all is Allah. Any Christian Arab will tell you this. The Arabic Bible has Allah all through it. The word 'God' is an Indo-European word, probably coming originally from the Persian word 'Khod' with the same meaning. A proof of the chain between Persian and English is that in English a word like 'daughter for instance is actually a Persian word. If u substitute the gh (which has no sound in English anyway) for 'kh' then the word would be 'daukhtar', which is the Persian word for daughter. Other English words derived in Persian: brother Just so we all know, Jesus never spoke Persian, Greek, German, English or any other Indo-European langage. He spoke Aramaic, which is a sister language to Arabic, and Hebrew. Therefore the word he'd use to describe his and our Lord would be a word sounding like Allah...as in Hebrew Allah is 'Ellah'. For further analysis of the relationship between Arabic and English read on...

1 Timothy 2:5-6 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

Jesus is NOT a Muslim, since the "religion" was not even thought up until some 600+ years AFTER His ascension to Heaven.

BTW- "yo daddy"... you're not. But my Father in Heaven, to whom Jesus Christ is seated on the right hand making perfect intercession for me, is.

And make no mistake. Anyone that adds to, or takes away from what real scripture says is in for a big surprise on the day of judgement.

Revelation 22:19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

The blood of many may already be unremovable from your hands.

Ezekiel 3:18-19 When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.

I've now done my part. I've not condoned your false teaching and left to chance that someone else warn you.

No, may God have mercy on you, my friend.

You need Jesus. "You say prophet, you say priest? I'll raise ya'. Prophet, Priest, plus my King. He's the Saviour.... Cross Movement here to raise ya'. It's time to switch all praise from things made, to The Maker." - Cross Movement

BTW- The "newer translations" of the Bible, are in fact DIRECTLY transcribed from ancient Heb
