keystyling inna keystyle
I had no idea I was one of the world's foremost experts on keystyling. But after getting off the phone with Leena Pendharkar, it dawned on me. Leena is writing an article about keystyling for Wired magazine. I have no idea if the article will be published. It doesn't seem like there is much to talk about. But Leena's got skills, and you can see them at her very impressive -- though somewhat over-slickified and somewhat akin to an AT&T commercial -- website that showcases her writing, movies, and web design.

Leena read the interview I did with Akrobatik and wanted his contact info, and to interview yours truly. In my interview with Akrobatik I asked about his views on keystyling, to which he responded that he thought,
"That's just a way for people to pass time and share their expression. It's cool."
I must really be a lousy interview. When Leena asked Akro the same question, he told her he thought it was a stupid waste of time. In other words, Akro was polite with me... but told Leena his real feelings. The lesson here is that -- as an interviewer -- you want to do everything you can to get your subject to be rude and outspoken.
Of course, I'm just stoked the article might get published. Then I can add keystyling to the list of things about which I know nothing, but am nonetheless considered an expert. Thanks Leena!

I hope I'm not the only one who hadn't heard of keystyling before. After a trip to Google I'm now enlightened.

I had to google it too, and it's funny cuz it's something I practice frequently on AIM. Too bad I didn't know it was called keystlin' at the time...I woulda' used it in a peace I wrote about IM battles. DAMN!!! Thanks for kepping me up.

Keystylin' is mad fun. My friends like to do it alot, because it's a great showcase of talent, and mostly because most of them can't freestyle (i'm talking about improvisational, instantaneous creative version, not the "you haven't heard this piece, so assume I'm making this up right now" version) very well.
But the keystylin' phenomena has givin I'm sure alot of people the motivation and confidence to start writing serious rhymes (serious meaning they actually try making thoughtful attempts)

If the product of focus `nd skill is achievement..
Then my misconduct will fill my disagreements..
For God has given me the ability to question truth..
`nd I have revolved my question into a loof..

This rap business got me caught up in Christ, makin me get on my knees and Preach with people filled with tears in they eyes, i'm hearin all these cries, but we all have to visualize, the insecure ventures of provisionize, my name is Yung'N'Fluence and I speak about the Lord, if ya got a problem I'll rolled up in a Christly Honda Accord
