Hip Hop Is Reggae Music
My new strategy for this blog is to write comments on other people's websites and then post a link to it.

Shaka Buku is the future of Reggae. You have to check this out. Its a blend of
Bob Marley, Stevie Wonder and Led Zeppelin. No average songs, its wall to wall
jams that hit you in the gut and move you at the core of your life. I can't stop
listening to it. Check it out at www.shakabuku.com and hear for yourself.

i gotta say reggae in my opinion is the best genre of music out there, and when incorporated w/ hiphop it takes reggae to another extreme.

Fuck that SHAKA BUKU WAS HORRIBLE. FUCK!!

Reggae has always been on the rise...this has been so ever since Shabba/Patra era. As a result of the industry being so political reggae/dancehall is just not supposed to rise above a certain level. Several reggae/dancehall acts have been signed to labels over the years but at the end of the day they still cannot get the marketing right. MTV is lauching a new television network catering to Caribbean music this could be the reason why there is so much continuous reggae/dancehall airplay on mainstream radio everywhere.

am so happy 2 discover dis site am goin use it tIll R.I.P

anyone got good dancehall gig contacts. sweet site when you're smokin a big BC pineberry phattie

Of course, hip-hop is REGGAE...both rap and hip-hop come straight out of reggae music.
Cool Herc, the Jamaican DJ who brought 'toasting' to New York actually brought what was later called 'rapping.'
( see the facts, "Rap, Rhyme and Rhythm: Rapsody in Hip-Hop, Rhythm and Rhyme," www.AuthorHouse.com also see "Americans and their Idols," pub by www.infinitypublishing.com info@buybooksontheweb.com

The 'toasting' is a style of Jamaican rapping developed by the DJ's. During the 1950's and 1960's and to this date, Jamaican DJ's usually did a toasting freestyle over the instrumental version of a reggae, ska, dancehall or rock-steady (a form of reggae) song.
Here is a very good reference that discusses the entire music development in detail.

CHINESE IN HIP-HOP
There should really be no talk about Jin and his skills. He is Chinese, so what's the fuss. The Chinese of Jamaica (who are a bit darker than US or Canadian Chinese) are important to the reggae music scene in Jamaica.
In fact Byron Lee ( of Byron Lee and the Dragoneers, is Black Chinese ). The Kong Brothers and Tony Chin and the Caribbean Allstars are Chinese who play very good reggae and calypso music.
The history of Blacks and Chinese in the Caribbean has been a very pleasant one (which shocks some of us when we see this type of animus and ignorance here in the US between some - yes a few folks here).
The fact is, whether in Cuba, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago (watch BET Jazz on Saturdays www.betjazz.com ), Guyana, Surinam or whether it is Japanese and Afro-Brazilians in Brazil, it simply shows people who are not exposed to constant racism and negativity about others get along.
In Brazil, where Capoeira Angola, the African martial art from Angola, Congo, Nigeria and Mozambique are popular, there are many Japanese studying the art. It is similar to the days of the 1970's when many Blacks were studying kungfu and karate --- and at that time, some African-Americans did not even realize that they had an indigenous martial art practiced in the Southern US called 'kicking n' sticking' which is a combination of acrobatic feet martial arts with stick fighting (also called 'Mani' in Cuba), nor did many realize that Capoeira Angola a facinating martial art from Africa was the second most popular sport in Brazil.
In fact, many break-dancing moves come from Capoeira Angola and Capoeira Regional.

TO WHOM It May Concern Im Inquiring About The Change Up That Was Made On The BETJAZZ Channel Saturdays Which Provided Carribbean Intrinsic Folklore,Music,Calypso and other festivities that produced that rich Carribbean Vibe.Channels Like T&T Today,Trini-Rhythms & ETC.Were removed.

I am continuing from where I Left off concerning shows Like T&T Today,Trini-Rhythms were removed To a different Time To allow The latin shows To Superimposed.Im an American and my wife Is from Trinidad.I suggest that before you allow the Latin Shows to take over, their plenty of other Islands that can express Its ethnicity as well.Im hoping In the near future that BET-JAZZ will explore more and show more other parts of the Islands because this help produce a connection between black people prevalent throughout the earth. Its a learning process to those of us who have not travel or visited that part of the earth. Thank You
