Who is MegaHertz?

The group is composed of three MCs -- Copywrite Emcee 78', Camu*Tao, Tage Proto -- and our DJ, RJD2. We formed in 1995. I've been rhyming since 1990. Camu and I met back in high school. We added Tage to the group in 1997. Tage is attending Morehouse College in Atlanta.

Tell us about the scene in Columbus, Ohio. Who are the pioneers and people on the rise? What about clubs and open mic events?

As far as pioneers go, Da Intalec is Columbus' biggest, along with S.G. (Sample God), MHz, RJD2, Brothers Grimm, and Opium Prodigy. DJs include DJ Phazo, DJ Lozone, DJ Drastic, RJD2, DJ Drew, Bombay, DJ Maddskills, DJ Prism, and DJ Manny. As far as open mics go, we have Bernies on every Tuesday night and Thieves's World on Saturday night. The only real club we have is the Red Zone.

Where and with whom have you performed as a group?

We've done a show in Detroit with Bizarre. A show in New York City with Scienz of Life and Aphilliation. We did Bobbito's show with Supernatural. And we recently toured overseas with Dilated Peoples, The Roots, Last Emperor, Jurassic 5, Dynasty, Natural Elements, Rasheed, J-Treds, Kardinal Offishall, Mr. Complex, and DJ Noize.

How did you get hooked up with Fondle Em?

We hooked with Bobbito by driving from Colombus to NYC. Dropped off a cassette with five joints on it. Bob called back a month later saying he played "World Premiere" and that he wanted to put it out on Fondle Em.

Who are some of your favorite artist?

The people I dig include Gang Starr, Eminem, Canibus, Last Emperor, Hieroglyphics, Kool Keith, MF Doom, and CoFlow.

What's up with the group's new single "Rocket Science" and what projects is everyone working on, both as a group and as individuals.

"Rocket Science" has been blowing up. Future projects include a new MHz 12" (possibly on ABB), a solo single from Camu Tao on Buka Records, and a solo single from me (Copywrite) on Rawkus feat. Cage & Mr. Eon, produced by Mighty Mi. Also we'll be on J-Rawls upcoming compilation album. Jakki the Mota Mouth's 12" will be out soon on Fondle Em. I produced it and also appear on the b-side. Also catch me on the upcoming Smut Peddlers album and on the upcoming Weathermen album which consists of Jakki, Camu, Yak, Cage, Siah, Bey, and myself.
